“As adult educators … we must harness the natural self, reconcile the experiential self, serve the practical self, and awaken the critical self within our middle life learners.”

ISIS Model focus of presentation at global summit: Public Safety Leadership Development Worldwide: What Can we Learn from each Other?

CACP consultant and educator Ruth Montgomery presented an overview of the ISIS as an innovation in public safety executive leadership development to approximately 60 people at the International Public Safety Leadership Development Consortium 2008 Summit in Tallahassee, Florida on July 16, 2008.   Summit participants included police and public safety executives, US POST (Police Officer Training and Standards) representatives, academics, and others involved in police and public safety professional development from the US, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, and Canada.

The presentation generated considerable interest and discussion. Summit delegates were particularly interested in the program's focus on national and global issues of concern to Canadians nationally; the student driven, problem based, learning model that blends theory with international on-site research; and, application of learning in the home environment. Delegates recommended that the Consortium should explore opportunities to participate in this worthwhile program.
